MTC Friends

We're Out of here!

This week went by so incredibly fast!!!! It was filled with lots of awesome teaching and learning and laughing with my district. One of my favorite things about this week was the devotionals. On sunday it was Donny Osmond. We had really great seats and he even sang for us. He was so funny and I didnt know that he was the guy in Mulan so that made it even more exciting! Everyone was singing "Lets get down to  business!" alllllllll weeeeeek. It was great.

The second devotional was given by Sister and Elder Hallstrom from the presidency of the 70. It was one of the most inspiring meetings of my entire life. My favorite thing that he shared was that the knowledge that we have that we are children of God is superior to all other knowledge. That struck me because I love to learn and I have a massive desire to gain more knowledge but I already have the most valuable and priceless knowledge of all: I'm a daughter of God and He loves me, so much that he sent his son to suffer and die for me. That's why I'm on a mission, to share that knowledge with those that don't know those beautiful truths.

We finally got our travel plans and we are so excited to head out! We are leaving monday morning at 2:30 Am, so we will probably just stay up all night packing because theres no other time for it and its not like we are actually going to be able to sleep a ton.....We have 15 hours of air time ahead of us and itll be around 22 hours with layovers. We are losing about 17 hours I think.....so we get in Tuesday evening Guam time. We stop in San Francisco and Hawaii.

We are so excited to find out what Island and language we will be assigned to. I know that no matter where I go God has a plan and a purpose for me. My branch president promised me that I'll "be given the words that will touch the hearts of the people" which is super comforting:)

I already love being a missionary so much. I can feel all the prayers that are being sent my way, they feel almost tangible.

Love you all!
Sister Milne

Here are some pics we took with our favorite teacher sister Alldredge
Notice the Moses Mural in the background of the bottom pics. There are these giant scripture murals all over the new buildings, they're beautiful!

We really like to match just cuz its funny how much alike we are:) LOVE SISTER LAULUSA

More Week 2 pictures

MTC Week 2

Hello!

This week has been incredible. I cant believe how much I'm learning. Did you know the entire Book of Mormon is actually all about missionary work? yeah me neither, but turns out it is!! And its way cool!!!!! Seriously, go read Lehi's dream and think about missionaries and you will see what I mean. Also as of last week, there was 1300 missionaries here at the MTC and over 700 were sisters. GIRL POWER. But this week 500 new missionaries came so i'm not actually sure what the stats look like now cuz there were a ton of elders in that batch.......

Its so fun seeing all the people i know! But meeting new people has been such a blast too. There's an elder here from Chuuk that we met. He doesn't speak english really but Sister Laulusa knew how to say hello in Chuukese. (Its Rananeem. That's spelled how it sounds because I have no idea how to spell it) So every time we see him we say hi in his language and it makes him happy but I don't think he actually understands that we are going to Micronesia on our mission, no matter how many times we've tried explaining it to him...I'm pretty sure he is  serving in the Marshall islands learning Marshallese.

So this past Sunday was a freaking awesome day full of blessings from the Man upstairs. The branch president is one inspired guy. Everything he talks about is perfect for my needs. I had a meeting with him and he gave me a blessing and there was literally direct answers to questions I'd been pondering. Also we talked about how awesome sister Laulusa and I's companionship is and he said "Wouldn't that be cool to serve together again on the islands? If you pray for it, it will probably happen." So you can bet we have been praying for that every night:)

Then when we were eating dinner everyone was talking about how President Uchtdorf was here. So sister Laulusa and I finished eating and went out in the hallway to find a massive crowd of missionaries. We knew we wouldn't be able to get through and we weren't exactly even sure where he was because the crowd was so big. We both felt like we should take a walk through a random hallway and ended up on the other side of the crowd, right behind President Uchtdorf, where no one else was. We hear him bid all the missionaries good luck and farewell and then he turns around and walks right up to us and looks in each of our eyes and shakes our hands! I wanted to say something about how great he was and how much I love him, but I was too starstruck and no words came. I just smiled the biggest cheesiest smile of my life. It was AWESOME. Plus we had only been in that building eating at that time because we were going to choir practice so pretty much we were blessed for trying to sing.

We ended up singing for the Tuesday devotional and my comp and I made it on camera and on the big screens. I never would have thought that would ever happen because I don't really sing, but it was a super nifty experience that I will always remember and I think I might even be improving. (thanks to sister Laulusa trying to teach me the alto part).

Another thing I'm improving in thanks to God and Sister Laulusa is volleyball. We played it with our district in the sand courts this week and it was such a good time. I actually kinda loved it. Also we played a district game of kickball  and that was awesome. I was super sore the next day. I've actually just been super sore everyday because Sister Laulusa makes/encourages me to do actual workouts with her every night. Its probably good for me because I'm eating so much: trying to enjoy it all before the only thing I eat is fish, rice, ramen, and spam...

I know this is exactly where I'm supposed to be. In such a short amount of time I have felt my faith, trust, and confidence improve immensely. I never thought I would be a scriptorian, but so many times during our lessons the spirit will tell me exactly what scripture to share and its amazing. We learn so much as we teach. We work very well together and the spirit is so strong during all of our practice lessons.  She will be speaking and all I can think is how shes doing great and I have nothing to say, then she will look at me and I will look at the investigator and suddenly all the words are right there, far more simple and articulate then I could ever make up on my own. She says she experiences the exact same thing during the lessons and often times we can't even remember what it was we said. I'm really hoping that this will still happen in Micronesia when I don't even know how to actually speak the language...

Our favorite this week was teaching one amazing investigator (actually a recent convert) about the plan of salvation and then the next day about the doctrine of Christ and inviting her to baptism. Its cool because she teaches us so much. When we talked about the atonement she compared it to hunger games which I thought was so perfect! Just like Katniss volunteered to go in place of her sister prim, so did our brother Jesus Christ volunteer to go instead of us, because he knew that we wouldn't make it but that he could. That's how much he loves us:) he didn't do it for glory, and he didn't want to experience all that pain, but he wanted to save us more than anything.

Godspeed, God bless, God be with you till we meet again.

MTC Problems

Sister Goodrich from my district and I accidentally matched. We found
the Palau flag. And we have a candy problem.

Shaka Too Tight

Okay, I'm loving the MTC! My companion is sister Laulusa (Law-ulu-Saw) and she is amazig. We have so much in common it's kinda crazy but really cool. I love our district, all the Elders are so sweet and excited to share. Our District Leader is Elder Dorius, He's 6' 10" and played Basketball at Utah State last year I believe.....The sisters are all amazing as well, very happy and nice. Some people here are SUPER peppy which is good for them I guess, my comp and I just smile and try to be friendly even though we arent really like that. We are the first set of districts to start learning in the new buildings, and they are so beautiful! I love them so much, there light and color and great views of the temple and BYU. They are filming a video about the new MTC buildings, and sister laulusa and I got filmed as we were studying so look out for that cuz we might make and appearance. The food is good, exercise time seems fun but we've only gone once and we played volleyball and there were some people that were really intense about it and even cussing which was odd and not fun....so I probably own't be playingt that again any time soon. The food is good. Too good actually. And there's dessert every meal which is bad for those like me who have no self control against donuts and ice cream.

We are learning so much so fast. People that have only been here a week longer than us seem so much older and wiser......We are hopping we will be at that point by next Wednesday. We've begun teaching actors and I love teaching so much. Before I left, like during my mission prep class, it was so hard to articulate all my thoughts. Here, right from the very start, I've had no trouble opening my mouth and letting the words come. I haven't been shaky or stuttered at all which is amazing. I'm discovering just how important reading the scriptures, going to church, and saying prayers are. They solve EVERY PROBLEM! Also we all need to be constantly trying to improve ourselves, we can't be content and say things are just good enough. We must look for something about ourselves to actually change. All the time. That's how we get back to our heavenly father, that is what enduring to the end is. We get to start teaching every day,
two fulll length lessons to actors next week. We got assigned the people and their stories about why they want to talk to the missionaries. One of the people my comp and i got is Erika Olsen which is too funny and crazy that I know her. It might be hard to pretend that she is an investigator but it will still be cool.

We got to go to the temple this morning which was so nice. Utah feels like home and I'm going to miss it. But I'm even more excited to go to Micronesia now!! Everyone thinks its cool that we are going there and we have to explain all the time about the language thing. There is a trio of Elders in another district and zone going to micronesia as well, they got here on the same day as us so we will be flying out together on the 27th I believe. Sister Laulusa and I were surprised to discover that our release date is November 20th while the other sisters in our district is December 24th. At first we were disappointed because we will actually be 2 weeks shy of 18 months, but now we are grateful to spend the Holidays next year with our families.

Its a lot of work, but so fun and rewarding! A lot of sisters here warned us that we'd probably be crying every night for a bit like they had, but I don't think Sister Laulusa and I will be having that problem, we are just too darn excited about the gospel and going to micronesia. She is teaching me so much! my favorite was "Shaka too tight sister MIlne:)"The hawaiian hand sign that everyone does is a shaka I guess and mine was too tight. I had to chill. Loosen up. It was Funny:)

And shes from Arizona.

Peace and blessings. Hoorah for Israel!

Inspired Lyrics

"Come As You Are"

by Nathan Pacheco
Album: Higher
Come out of sadness
From wherever you've been
Come broken hearted
Let rescue begin
Come find your mercy
Oh sinner come kneel
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
So lay down your hurt
Lay down your heart
Come as you are

There's hope for the hopeless
And all those who've strayed
Come sit at the table
Come taste the grace
There's rest for the weary
Rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't cure
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't cure

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
Lay down your hurt lay down your heart
Come as you are
Come as you are
Fall in his arms
Come as you are
There's joy for the morning
Oh sinner be still
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow
That heaven can't heal

So lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home
You're not too far
Lay down your hurt lay down your heart
Come as you are
Come as you are
Come as you are
Come as you are

Saying Goodbye

This is us!  The Milne Family.
Saying goodbye to Kamry is filled with many emotions.  As her mother I worry about her in so many ways.  I even asked her, "Have we taught you enough?"

Is she ready?  Yes.  But I am not sure I am ready.  On the way to the airport....everything felt so surreal.  Yesterday she was just a little girl telling me that she wanted to go on a mission someday.  Someday is here and she's this beautiful young lady ready to take on the world as a missionary.

This blog is for her.
I will be posting her letters and her pictures so that when she gets home I can publish this blog and present it to her as a gift.
This blog is also for me.
To help the time to go by faster.

The title of this blog is "Give Them Heaven" because those were the last words her dad whispered in her ears as she left to go through security at the airport.

Mission Call

Kamry received her mission call to Micronesia Guam in February 2017 while attending BYU.
She will be a missionary for 18 months reporting to the Missionary Training Center on June 7th 2017.

In March, Kevin and I flew out to Utah so that we could go through the temple with her.  The Provo City Temple is gorgeous!  Mikayla and Parker came down to attend the temple with us.  It was a beautiful experience.

Kamry has such a beautiful testimony of Jesus Christ and she will be an awesome missionary.
